NAME: Ellen McCauley

SCHOOL: West Chester University

HOMETOWN: Schnecksville, PA

YEAR: Junior

POSITION: Forward

Q: What is the single best thing about playing college hockey for your current CHE team?
A:

The best thing for me is the opportunity to play ice hockey again. I was only able to play two seasons of hockey in high school.  There were no girls' teams near me, so I played on a boys' team. I had to quit before my league became full-contact so that I didn't get hit by boys who were double my size. Overall, I am very thankful to have the opportunity to play again in college with a team of such amazing women.

Q: What is the most-memorable hockey game you have ever been involved in, at any level?
A: My most-memorable game would definitely be my freshman year when we won the CHE playoffs.

Q: Are there any routines or rituals you must stick to before every game, such as listening to a certain song?
A:
My teammates laugh about it, but I always tie my skates three times.  I do it to make sure they are tight enough... and for good luck!

Q: Which opposing CHE team do you really enjoy playing against, and why?
A: I don't know that I could choose just one team that we play against.  I enjoy the competitive spirit of all the teams in our league.

Q: If you were put in charge of the entire sport of hockey and could change just one thing about the game, what would it be?
A: I would definitely make ice time free for hockey teams! I have served on the executive board of my hockey team for two years now, so I have seen our ice invoices and they are quite expensive.  My team started 6 AM practices this semester for cheaper ice time, and it is miserable! Free ice time for everyone would be amazing!

Q: What made you choose to attend your current school?
A: West Chester University is an awesome school with many diverse programs and organizations. It has given me the opportunity to get involved in many different groups on campus, including the peer tutoring program, Habitat for Humanity, and Psi Chi, which is the psychology honor society.  I also chose WCU because it has a great psychology program that would put me on the right track to academically and financially be able to attend a good graduated program after getting my bachelor's degree.

Q: What is your major and what do you want to do with it after graduation?
A: I am majoring in both Psychology and Spanish at West Chester.  After graduating, I hope to attend graduate school and ultimately become a child psychologist.

Q: What person outside of your family has done the most for you?
A: That person would be my best friend and boyfriend Chris.  We have been friends for eight years now.  He supports me in every endeavor and braves the cold to see all of our games.  I don't know where I would be without him.

Q: Would you rather be Superman or Batman, and why?
A: Neither! I am more of a Marvel fan, and I would definitely choose Thor over any other superhero.  He's the God of Thunder. Need I say more?

Q: What are your two favorite apps on your smartphone, and why?
A: My two favorite apps on my phone are undoubtedly Snapchat and Plant Nanny. Everyone is familiar with Snapchat.  Plant Nanny lets me track how much water I drink every day while raising little, virtual plant babies.  Yay hydration!
