The Kingston Voyageurs are set to defend their NorthEast Conference Championship and to get back to where they left off after dropping Game 7 to the Toronto Patriots in last years Buckland Cup Championship.

The Vees first must get through the Cobourg Cougars.

Cobourg (27-21-0-6) won the season series over the Voyageurs (34-14-2-4) 3 games to 2. Cobourg defeated the Vees 10-2 on September 12th, 3-1 on February 15th and last thursday 4-3 in OT. The Vees defeated the Cougars 6-4 on October 26th and 1-0 on January 16th.

There has been some playoff history between the 2 teams in the past 10 seasons. The last time these two teams met was the 2013 OJHL Conference Semifinal in which the Vees defeated the Cougars in 5 games. In the 2011 OJHL playoffs, the Cougars and Vees went to 7 games when the Vees won in 7 games on home ice. The Vees also swept Cobourg in the 2005 playoffs.

While other series will have a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 format, this series will have the Vees host Games 1 and 2, while Cobourg will host Games 3 and 4. The teams will flip home ice for Games 5, 6, 7 if necessary.
