New Leader Of VeesNation
On Saturday afternoon, it was announced that Zach Emelifeonwu was heading to the Union College Dutchmen a year earlier than planned. He then relinquished his captancy to defenseman Reid Russell.
Russell, from Napanee, will be entering his third season with the Voyageurs. Russell made the team out of training camp in the 2014-2015 season and has shown that every game that he is one of the premier defensemen in the OJHL. He has put up 25 points in 82 games, including scoring his first goal of his OJHL career vs Pickering, and then scoring his first OT winner vs Newmarket. He also scored the first Vees goal of the 2016 playoffs in Game #1 vs Cobourg.
