Kucia was tied for third on Lake Erie in total appearances (13), games started (seven) and strikeouts (27), as well as fourth amongst pitchers in innings pitched (37) this spring. The numbers put up by the big lefty hardly jump off the page, but rarely do you see a freshman relied on as heavily as Kucia was in his first year. Copperhead fans should expect him to be a reliable arm within the rotation.
Fun Fact: At six-foot-four-inches, Kucia is the third tallest pitcher listed on the Copperheads roster (behind VanSant and Shinsky). There is little oxygen from where these guys release the ball. Best of luck, opposing batters.
