Mariners, Red Wings Lead Series'
The Port aux Basques Mariners came from behind to beat the Stephenville Jets 8-5 on Sunday to take a best-of-three series lead two games to none. The Jets led 1-0 after the first period. On Saturday, the home town Mariners started the CWJHL playoffs on a strong foot with a 12-1 grounding of the Jets.
In other action, the Humber Valley Red Wings made their intensions known by taking the first two games of the series from the defending champion Cataracts. The Wings won the first game of the series by a score of 8-2, while taking the second on Sunday by a score of 11-8. The Red Wings hold a 2-0 lead in the series.
Action resumes on Friday, February 17th with the Mariners in the airport town to take on the Jets, while the Red Wings entertain the Cats in Deer Lake.
