Twins sweep double header from Rebels 11-5 and 14-4
Game 1
Noah Allison drove in four runs on two hits to lead Derby Twins past Newton Rebels 11-5 on Friday. In the eighth inning, Noah Allison hit a grand slam to left field.
Derby Twins got on the board in the top of the second inning after Dawson Robbins grounded out, scoring one run, and Cade Sutherland doubled, scoring two runs.
Damian Garcia hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the third for the Derby Twins.
Newton Rebels tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a double by Jerdy Lopez, and a single by Jeffrey Neill.
Teddy Judkins earned the win for Derby Twins. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two and walking one. Ryan Koob pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Derby Twins. The pitcher allowed two hits and three runs while, striking out four and walking one. Colin Monihen took the loss for Newton Rebels. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on two hits, striking out one and walking six. Carter Kutz stepped on the mound first for Derby Twins. The righty gave up two hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Kyle Lockhart led things off on the mound for Newton Rebels. The pitcher allowed two hits and four runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking three.
Derby Twins had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Kole Dudding and Caleb Coats led the team with two bases on balls each.
Jerdy Lopez set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Newton Rebels with two hits in three at bats. Newton Rebels turned two double plays in the game.
Game 2
Derby Twins won big over Newton Rebels 14-4 on Friday.
A double by Kole Dudding put Derby Twins on the board in the bottom of the first.
Derby Twins added one run in the second after Newton Rebels committed an error.
Derby Twins added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Kole Dudding singled, scoring one run, Dawson Robbins hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Cade Sutherland singled, scoring two runs.
Four more Derby Twins runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 14-4. Noah Allison homered to left field, scoring three runs, and Dawson Robbins singled, scoring one run.
Riley Kettner earned the win for Derby Twins. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Brody Farthing took the loss for Newton Rebels. The starter went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking five. Brandon Enders and Teddy Judkins each came on in relief for Derby Twins and shutdown Newton Rebels.
Derby Twins collected nine hits in the game. Cade Sutherland led Derby Twins with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Caleb Coats paced Derby Twins with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 13 walks for the game.
Caynen Patterson, Newton Rebels's number nine hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Raisean Dorsey, Cade Martinez, and Drew Wardell each drove in one run for Newton Rebels.
