PORT HOPE PANTHERS TOD DIVISION CHAMPIONS AGAIN!
The Port Hope Panthers are the 2018 PJHL Tod Division Champions after beating the Amherstview Jets in five games. The Panthers have now won four straight titles; beating the Napanee Raiders in the Empire B Junior C Hockey League Finals in 2015 and 2016, and beating the Raiders again last year in the PJHL Tod Division Championship. For the Amherstview Jets it was a disappointing end to their season, but the number four seed pulled off the upset of the PJHL Playoffs in the Tod Semis by knocking out the top seeded Napanee Raiders.
The Panthers will now advance to the PJHL East Conference Championship against the Orr Division Champion Lakefield Chiefs, a rematch of last year’s series won in six games by Port Hope. The winner of the East Championship will move on to the OHA Schmalz Cup Semifinals against the North Conference Champs. Port Hope has advanced to the Schmalz Cup Finals each of the last three years, coming up just short of hoisting the Cup on each occasion.
