RESULT: BLAZE 2 PANTHERS 3
Nottingham Panthers ensured they would enter Tuesday night’s Champions Hockey League semi final on a winning note after securing a 3-2 win in Coventry on Sunday evening.
Yann Sauve put the Panthers ahead after just over three and a half minutes with the only goal of the first period, Brett Perlini then doubling the advantage 46-seconds into the middle frame.
The Blaze hit back through Brett Robinson in the 26th minute but the visitors two goal cushion was restored just over two minutes later when Perlini converted Nottingham’s third powerplay goal of the night.
Coventry pulled one back through Ryan Dingle just past the midway point of the period, but the hosts could not conjure up an equaliser as Panthers goaltender Patrick Galbraith shut the door, finishing the game with 43-saves.
