George Giroux - EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD
The CCHL2 is honoured to announce that the late George Giroux has been named the 2016-17 Executive of the Year.
George, who passed away on December 12th was Owner and General Manager of the Metcalfe Jets and will always be remembered as one of the good guys in the game who was in it for all the right reasons.
Metcalfe Jets Head Coach Darrell Campbell released the following.
“George Giroux was President and Owner of the Jets, since 2007. He was a Manotick resident who promoted junior hockey with a focus on local player participation and making the Jets team a community resource.
“George was a key contributor to the CCHL2 and EOJHL leagues. His input was always in demand and he approached these tasks with an open mind, enthusiasm and drive.
“What distinguishes George from so many others was his approachable, cooperative, and giving personality who was truly passionate about his team, his players and his league.
“This positive approach was motivating and inspiring to others, and George has left a lasting impression on many.
The CCHL2 will officially name the Executive of the Year Award as the George Giroux Memorial Award.
