DeLand, Fla.—The Dawgs won both games against the Deland Suns Thursday night. They won game one 10-7 and game two 10-0.

JJ Niekro (Florida Southern) started on the mound for game one pitching four innings and striking out one. Conner Andrews (North Florida) started on the mound for game two pitching six innings and striking out eight Suns. Both pitchers got a win against DeLand.

Kyle Guttveg (Embry Riddle) started things off with an RBI single in the first, scoring Jordan Bowersox (Penn State). In the top of the second, Jacob Katzfey (Wichita State) scored on an error by the Suns catcher. Then Bowersox singled, sending Zach Howard (Embry-Riddle) home making the score 3-0.

Mark Felton (Abraham Baldwin) drove in both Gibson Krzeminski (West Virginia) and Katzfey during the Dawgs' next at bat. This made the score 5-0.

The Suns scored four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

In the top of the 4th, Christian Maglich (Florida Southern) hit a home run making the score 6-4.

Daniel Rodriguez (Reinhardt), in the top of the 5th, hit a single sending in Howard. Cristian Rivera (Webber International) then delivered a sac fly to plate Felton. Guttveg followed with a single sending in Bowersox making the score 9-4.

The Suns hit in three more runs this game, and the Dawgs scored once more on a wild pitch making the final score of the first game 10-7.

In game two, the bats were swinging in the top of the 4th when Howard hit a triple sending in Guttveg and Maglich. Then Cristian Rivera (Webber International) hit a three-run home run making the score 5-0.

Katzfey, in the top of the 5th, hit a single and sent Guttveg home to score. Howard scored later in the half inning on an error making the score 7-0.

The next at-bat Rodriguez drove in Rivera, making it 8-0.

The Dawgs scored two more runs before the game ended due to mercy rule.

Andrews was impressive on the mound, allowing only one hit in six innings of work. He currently leads the league in strikeouts with 24.

Rodriguez was the offensive star of the day for Winter Park, going 7-10 in the two games with a double and three RBI.

The Diamond Dawgs hope to continue their winning streak Friday, June 30 as they take on the Winter Garden Squeeze at Winter Garden.
