Florida League Weekly Recap #6
Team's places in the standings remain unchanged from last week after a short week number six. Winter Park suffered a rare loss at the hands of the River Rats, but still finished above .500 for the week. DeLand swept the Squeeze to help bolster their second place status. The Rats took a game from the Scorpions in addition to their Winter Park win to keep their slim lead over the Lightning in the middle of the pack. The Squeeze and Scorpions both tied as they battle it our for the final playoff spot heading into the last few weeks of the season.

Player of the Week
Mark Townsend
OF - Stetson
DeLand Suns
Townsend basically wrapped up the player of the week award in his first game on Monday. Facing off against the Squeeze at Lake Minneola High School, the Suns were hot. As a team, they hit eight home runs in the game; Townsend was responsible for three of them. He had a two-run shot in the first, a solo job in the fifth, and another two-run bomb in the sixth. He also walked and singled, going a perfect 4-4 on the day. He scored five times and drove in five more. He also had a hit and a run scored in each of the other four games played for the Suns that week.
This is Townsend's second Player of the Week honor this season. He leads DeLand in average (.337), runs (22), hits (34), doubles (7), home runs (5), RBI (25) and steals (8). He leads the Florida League in hits and doubles, and is second in home runs.

Pitcher of the Week
Jack Wolgast
RHP - Southeastern
Winter Park Diamond Dawgs
Despite leading the league in ERA on the season, this is Wolgast's first weekly honor. The sophomore righty turned in a strong performance against the dangerous Sanford offense on Monday. Over the course of 6.1 innings, he held the Rats to two hits, two walks and two runs (one earned). He also struck out eight batters, and held them to a .100 batting average. In five appearances this season, Wolgast has never allowed more than one earned run, and has never allowed more than three hits.
