SANFORD, Fla.- In a story that must be told in two parts, the Snappers finally picked up their third win of the season on Monday in Sanford by a score of 2-0. The game was a continuation of last Tuesday in Leesburg, which was suspended due to lightning. Wednesday’s action picked up in the bottom of the fifth inning, which the Snappers, serving as the visitors, escaped on jam with two runners on, thanks to JC Sewell (Seminole State).

Sewell was the story of the game, throwing a complete game shutout, striking out a total of 11 hitters. Between both portions, he threw 161 pitches, 100 for strikes.

The Snappers were in control early, with an RBI single from Ryan Coleman (Rollins) in the first, and a solo shot by Jack Speights (Seminole State) in the fourth.

The Lightning got two men on base in the fifth with two away before the game was called.

Fast forward to Wednesday, Sewell, who was in line to start Monday anyway, carried on, retiring the first batter he faced on just three pitches.

Offense was quiet on Wednesday’s portion, with just five combined hits for each side the rest of the way.

Sewell was the standout of the game with his complete game shutout.

Unfortunately, the regularly scheduled game for the evening was postponed due to rain.

Snappers will be back in action on Tuesday as they host the Rats in Sanford, beginning at 6:30.
