FLORIDA LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WEEK 7
The final Florida League Player of the Week honors represent performances from Monday, July 17th, to Sunday, July 23rd.
The last Player of the Week award goes to Winter Garden outfielder Brandon Fields (Southeastern), who nearly won the batting title in the final week of regular season play. In the season's last five games, Fields racked up eight hits and batted .381. The Southeastern product hit back-to-back home runs in two games against the River Rats and had three multi-hit games during the week. Knocking in eight runs, the outfielder connected on two doubles and reached base safely in four of the five games this week. Fields ends the regular season ranking second overall in batting average (.353).
The Pitcher of the Week award goes to Squeeze pitcher Jordan Huskey (Arkansas). In his final start of the regular season, Huskey tossed seven scoreless innings in Tuesday's win over Orlando. The Razorback struck out 10 of the 24 hitters he faced, allowing just four baserunners in the 4-0 shutout win. Batters only hit .091 against Huskey as he gave up only two hits in the outing. Huskey finishes the season with seven starts and a 2.91 ERA.
