Fergus outlasts Orillia, 4-2
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Fergus Devils escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Orillia Terriers.
No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brock Heshka at 3:28 of the second period.
Griffin Heitshu had two goals to lead Fergus to victory. Heitshu's tallies came at 7:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fergus and on the power play 16:42 into the second to make the score 4-2 Fergus.
Joshua Schafer also scored for Fergus. In addition, Fergus received assists from Mike Traves, who had two and Patrick Snell, Mikael Ruffini, Paolo Chemello, and Jack Vautour, who each chipped in one.
Orillia kept the Devils' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Elliott made 35 saves on 37 shots.
The Terriers were helped by Tyler Mason, who had one goal. Mason scored 19:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Taylor picked up the assist. Orillia also got a goal from Jason Binnie as well. More assists for Orillia came via Mathew White and Denny Benson, who contributed one each.
Fergus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gordie Weiss made 16 saves for Orillia on 20 shots. The Terriers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
