2015 Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian Championships
Cornwall's team in the Central Canada Hockey League has been awarded the Fred Page Cup Eastern Canadian Championships for mid-April of 2015, to be played at the civic complex.
"The City of Cornwall and our organization are very excited to be hosting such a prestigious championship,'' Colts owner and head coach Ian MacInnis said. "We're confident we'll have an outstanding week.''
The Colts just travelled to the Fred Page Cup, in April in Truro, Nova Scotia, after beating Nepean in the CCHL playoff final. The annual four-team tournament includes the host squad, the CCHL champion, the winner of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and the Quebec Junior AA Hockey League title-holder.
The Colts hosted the event once, way back in 2003. The team began putting a bid together for the 2015 version — which will be the 21st annual Fred Page Cup — over the winter. The effort was spearheaded by Brian Edwardson, an investment banker and advisor to Colts owner MacInnis — and also the father of goalie James Edwardson.
