CCHL's Ottawa Junior Senators to host 2018 Fred Page Cup

OTTAWA, Ont. -- The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce the selection of the Ottawa Junior Senators as hosts for the 24th Annual 2018 Eastern Canada Junior A Championship.

The Senators were awarded the event after the Eastern Canada Championship Selection Committee, comprised of former league President Pat Parker, former league President, Hockey Canada Chairman and Hockey Eastern Ontario life member Don Brown and current Hockey Eastern Ontario President Ron McRostie review the applications from the Senators and the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

“Both bids were excellent and the committee did extra time in reviewing them before reaching the decision for recommendation to the CCHL Board of Governors who approved Ottawa as the hosts for 2018” commented CCHL Commissioner Kevin Abrams.

The CCHL wishes to express its thanks to the Committee who represent the outstanding history of the league and both bidders who provided high quality bids for consideration.

This marks the first time that the Ottawa Junior Senators have hosted the event in its history. Previous hosts have been Brockville (1997, 2010), Pembroke (2000, 2006) Cornwall (2003, 2015) and Kanata (2012).

In the previous 22 seasons the CCHL has captured the Fred Page Cup, emblematic of the Eastern Canada Junior A Championship 11 times included the past three years (Carleton Place 2013, 2014, 2015) with other champions being Kanata (1997), Brockville (1998, 2010), Cornwall (2000), Nepean (2004), Hawkesbury (2005) and Pembroke (2007, 2011).

On nine occasions the CCHL has been runner up meaning only twice in 22 years has a member team missed the finals of the event.
