It's Not "When", It's "Weather"!
FVC has an ambitious spring exhibition schedule planned. From February 27 to May 4, 40 games have been scheduled and we are getting requests for more. Our challenge right now is rain.
The City of Chilliwack has done a wonderful job making improvements to Fairfield Diamond D, FVC's home park, but even with the addition of Turfus to the infield skin, this time of year continues to be unkind. A full infield tarp would make all the difference in the world, allowing us to cover the infield between events so that water can be kept off the infield. We've had some sunny days where we could have played after rolling a tarp off the infield, but since we didn't have the tarp, the standing water on the skin (aka "cutout") was too much to allow play to go on.
FVC is currently seeking sponsors to help us acquire a full 160' x 160' infield tarp. Cost for such a tarp is approximately $7,000. If anyone out there can help with a donation, sponsorship or if you know of someone who might be able to help out please have them contact FVC at frontoffice@fvbaseball.ca.
