Port Hope outlasts Gananoque, 5-3
The Port Hope Panthers gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Gananoque Islanders.
Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Dalton Lawrence's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.
Lawrence was all over the ice for Port Hope, as he grabbed two goals in the win.
Gananoque was unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Hope eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.
Port Hope also got points from Dan Lagrois, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Port Hope included Josh Geruais and Keegan Ferguson, who each put in one. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Evan Foley, who had two and Gardner Jordan, Cameron McGill, Jon Campbell, Blane Gaudon, Hunter Baker, and Evan Wasylyk, who contributed one each.
The Islanders were helped by Connor Smith, who had one goal. Smith scored 19:55 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Drew Marquette assisted on the tally. Gananoque additionally got points from David Leung, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Gananoque also got a goal from Chris Boushy as well. More assists for Gananoque came via Sam Wilson, who had one.
The Panthers' Sheldon Calbury stopped 12 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Port Hope incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Quinn Cota made 33 saves for Gananoque on 38 shots. The Islanders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
