Campbellford wins tough contest against Gananoque, 6-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Campbellford Rebels escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Gananoque Islanders.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Tarbutt Matt's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

 

Campbellford got the win with help from a great game by Travis Bennett, who had one goal and two assists. Bennett scored on the power play 2:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Campbellford. The Rebels had gotten the advantage when Gananoque's Ryan Patrick was sent off for interference. Jeremiah Doherty provided the assist.

Campbellford forced the Islanders goalie Paul Mazzolin to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Rebels found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Campbellford averages 2.5 goals per game.

Campbellford additionally got points from Doherty, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Campbellford included Graiden Maynard, Julian Nick AP, and Brenan Rylott, who scored one goal each. More assists for Campbellford came via Austin Fry and Jacob Trotter, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels were unable to stop Gananoque from sending pucks towards the net, and the Islanders eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Gananoque was helped by Brody Cross, who had three goals. Gananoque also got points from Hunter Drew, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Gananoque received assists from Nic Stafford, who had two and Shamus Barr APM and Liam Pederson APM, who contributed one each.

Cole Mahoney rejected 29 shots on goal for Campbellford. The Rebels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Paul Mazzolin made 34 saves for the Islanders on 40 shots. Gananoque incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
