Top Speed's Scott Lichty named Co-Most Valuable Player
No one stood out more offensively than Scott Licthy of Top Speed Baseball and Brian Morley of the Klamath Falls Gems this summer. Because of their success on the field, the duo has earned Co-Most Valuable Player in the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League.
Licthy finished seventh in the league in batting with a .398 batting average, second in the GSCBL with 66 hits, seventh in the league with 12 doubles, first in the league in runs with 57 total, and his 43 RBIs were good for third overall. Licthy led all GSCBL players with 205 plate appearances and his .512 On Base Percentage was good for third overall.
Hitting in the middle of the Top Speed lineup all season long, Licthy registered at least one hit in 41 of 48 games played and he collected multi-hit games on 17 different occasions. One of his biggest games of the summer came on July 10, 2017 against the South Bay Storm. Licthy finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored, a double, 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. He also walked twice in the game. He also had a 5 hits game in which he scored 5 runs and drove in two of his own on July 5, 2017 against the West Coast Kings.
