Markham rolls over Whitby, 8-2

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, Whitby faces elimination next time out.

Rylee St. Onge had two goals and one assist to lead Markham. St. Onge scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:36 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Markham. Laine McKay provided the assist. St. Onge's next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Markham in the third period. McKay assisted on the tally.

Fury's power play was ineffective against Royals's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Markham kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordon White made 28 saves on 55 shots.

Markham also got points from Trevor Abbot, who also registered one goal and one assist and McKay, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Markham included Sean Perichak, Jeff Joynt, Hudson Michaelis, and Marco Azzano, who scored one each. More assists for Markham came via Jonathan Prasnjak, Aaron Spivak, Joel Knight, Lucas Condotta, and Nick Thomakos, who contributed one apiece.

Fury were helped by Jacob Durham, who grabbed one goal.Durham scored in the second period to make the score 3-1 Markham. Ty Dellandrea and Jeffrey Gauld registered the assists on the goal.Whitby additionally got points from Dellandrea, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Durham also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Mason Snell, Adam Turner, and Gauld, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Semiao recorded 23 saves for Royals. Markham incurred 52 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Whitby incurred 56 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nik Coric was ejected from the game.
