Valentino Named Collegiate Summer Baseball National Pitcher Of The Week

This past week, Frank Valentino (NYIT) was named Collegiate Summer Baseball’s national pitcher of the week.
Valentino, who is 5-0 on the season for the Riverhead Tomcats, earned the award after pitching a complete game shutout against the Shelter Island Bucks on July 9.
During the start, Valentino allowed just two hits, and struck out 10 Bucks as a part of what was the first of two wins on the afternoon for the Tomcats.
On the season, Valentino has struck out 34 batters in 28.2 innings pitched. Additionally, the rising senior at NYIT has allowed just ten hits over the last 18 innings pitched.
Valentino has been a key contributor in helping the Tomcats in the HCBL playoff push with two weeks to go in the season. Earlier this past week, Valentino was named to the HCBL North All-Star Team.
