The Longest HCBL Hitting Streaks in 2017
It was a spectacular summer for Michael Veit (Fairleigh Dickinson) of the Long Island Road Warriors. The native of Yaphank, NY was named an HCBL All-Star in Mid-July and won an HCBL championship for Long Island at the end of the season.
Veit made league history this summer by tying the HCBL league record for longest hitting streak by getting at least one hit in 17 games between June 2nd-June 23rd. Veit tied a record shared by Sag Harbor’s Dan Shea in 2013 and Southampton’s Hunter Courson in 2016.
Veit batted .281 with a pair of home runs and 21 RBI for the HCBL champion Road Warriors in the 2017 season. The incoming sophomore at Fairleigh Dickinson saved his best performance at the plate in Long Island’s championship victory over Westhampton in Game 2 of the 2017 HCBL Championship Series on August 1st where he went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs scored.
