7/5 Recap: North Fork Sweeps Westhampton

Game 1: North Fork 9, Westhampton 6

The North Fork Ospreys improved to 3-1 on the season against the Westhampton Aviators with a sweep in their doubleheader at Aviator Field and with the sweep improved to 6-11-1 at 13 points only one point out of fifth-place Sag Harbor.
In game one, the Aviators jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to RBI hits from Tim Feliz (Adelphi) and Brady Short (Stony Brook).
North Fork cut into the deficit during the third inning with a two-run single by Chris Andrews (Monmouth).
The Ospreys tied the game in the fourth inning following an error, but Westhampton retook the lead on a bases loaded walk by Jake Liberatore (Iona).
North Fork took the lead for good in the fifth inning. Andrews and Cole Resetar (Carl Albert State) each had RBI hits, and Andrews later scored on a wild pitch.
Steven Luttazi (UMass) hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to increase the Osprey lead to 8-4. Riley Davis (Lehigh) added to the Osprey lead with a home run of his own in the seventh inning.
Following an Aviator rally in the bottom of the seventh, Freddy Mosier (Middlebury) earned his first save of the summer.
Jake Fraher (Monmouth) earned the win for the Ospreys after pitching 2.2 scoreless innings in relief.
In game two, the Ospreys took a 4-0 lead in the third inning. After an error brought home the first run of the game, Andrew Nole (Lehigh) hit a three-run home run.
Westhampton cut into the deficit in the fourth inning on an error and an RBI single by Short. The Aviators cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Jared Anderson (Long Beach State).
The Ospreys responded with Nole’s second home run of the game in the sixth inning. North Fork added two runs in the seventh inning on an error and an RBI single by Andrews to lead 7-3 in the seventh inning.
The Aviators cut into the deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning on Anderson’s second RBI of the game. However, the Ospreys stranded the bases loaded with a strikeout to end the game
Conner Kershaw (Loyola Marymount) won his second game of the summer for the Ospreys, after he allowed three runs in five innings.
Game 1: Riverhead 13, South Shore 1
Game 2: South Shore 4, Riverhead 3
The Riverhead Tomcat had their highest scoring game of the season during their win in game one of their doubleheader.
South Shore took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Matthew Brown-Eiring (Stony Brook).
Riverhead responded by taking the lead for good in the fourth inning. Joseph Gisonda (Albany) opened the scoring with a two-run double.
In the fifth inning, the Tomcats scored three times. Gisonda had an RBI single, and Brian Morrell (St. John’s) hit a two run home run.
Riverhead added eight runs in the sixth inning to take a 13-1 lead.
Tyler Cox (Dartmouth) drove in the first run of the inning with a bases-loaded walk. RBI hit by pitches to Calvin Brown (Pennsylvania) and Cole Minato (Chapman) extended the Tomcat lead. After errors brought home three additional Tomcat runs, Will Feil (Albany) concluded the Tomcat rally with a two-run double.
The South Shore Clippers responded with a 4-3 victory in game two.
South Shore and Riverhead exchanged runs in the second inning. The Clippers run scored on an error, while Chuck Sanzio (St. John’s) brought home a Tomcat run with an RBI double.
The Clippers took a 4-1 in the third inning. Chad Pike (Suffolk CC) opened the scoring with an RBI single. Michael Draskin (Adelphi) had an RBI single as well, and Tj Werner (Fairleigh Dickinson) added an RBI with a groundout.
Riverhead cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Cox. Cox later cut the Tomcat deficit to 4-3 in the seventh inning on a RBI single. However, Pike halted the Tomcat rally by inducing a fly out to end the game.
Game 1: Southampton 7, Sag Harbor 6
Game 2: Southampton 3, Sag Harbor 0
The Southampton Breakers moved into first place after sweeping their doubleheader against the Sag Harbor Whalers.
In game one, the Breakers took a 3-1 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Parker Stinson (Indiana State) and RBI single by Lance Kruse (Southwestern). The Breakers made the score 4-2 in the second inning on an RBI single by David Franchi (Molloy).
Both teams exchanged runs in the third inning. A Ryan Mullahey (Long Island) RBI single in the third inning cut the deficit to 4-2, but the Breakers responded with a Thomas Eitniear (Toledo) RBI groundout to bring home their fifth run of the game.
Luke Napolitano (Hofstra) cut the deficit to 5-3 on an RBI groundout, but the Breakers extended their lead to 7-3 on a two-run single by Beau Root (VMI).
The Whalers cut their deficit to 7-6 in the sixth inning on a three-run triple by Cole Hebble (Swarthmore). In the seventh inning, the Whalers loaded the bases in their final turn at bat, but Andrew Ledbetter (Stony Brook) ended the game with a strikeout to secure the Breaker win.
The Breakers completed the sweep of the Whalers with a 3-0 win in game two.
Southampton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Kruse.
The Breakers added a run to their lead in the third inning on a dropped third strike.
This run support was more than enough for Bryan Krolikowski (Nassau CC), who pitched a complete game shutout for the Breakers in the win. Krolikowski only allowed three hits with eight strikeouts and four walks as he earned his first win of the season.
