Keys Provides Fourth of July Celebration for Westhampton with Walk-Off Home Run

The Westhampton Aviators gave their fans a memorable Fourth of July game against the North Fork Ospreys winning on a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth by a final score of 11-8 off the bat of third basemen Sean Keys (Bucknell).

 

Keys would get the offense started for Westhampton in the bottom of the first with a three-run home run. Zev Moore (MIT) followed with a solo home run giving the Aviators back-to-back home runs and a 4-0 lead after one inning.

 

North Fork would get a run in the top of the second when Christian Fagnant (Amherst) lead off the inning with a solo home run.

 

The Ospreys would add a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Jackson Curtis (Husson) and an RBI double in the sixth inning from Jack Filippi (St. John Fisher) to cut the deficit to 4-3.

 

The Aviators would get a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Ethan Toone (Southern Illinois-Edwardsville) and an Ethan Guerra (Paris JC) RBI fielder’s choice as the Aviators now had a 6-3 lead after six innings.

 

North Fork would tie the score in the top of the seventh getting three runs on an RBI single by Fagnant, a Westhampton error, and a sacrifice fly from Lukas Egenhauser (Le Moyne).

 

Westhampton would get back the lead in the bottom of the seventh when a North Fork error with the bases loaded and two out would result in two Aviator runs scoring. Westhampton would take an 8-6 lead to the top of the eighth.

 

In the eighth inning, Fagnant would go deep for his second home run of the game, a two-run home run tying the score at 8-8.

 

As the Aviators started the bottom of the ninth, Luke Mistone (Cal St. Fullerton) led off the inning being hit by a pitch for the third time in the game. Jack Halloran (Emory) followed with a single putting the winning run in scoring position for Keys with nobody out.

 

Keys would take a 2-0 pitch to deep right field giving him his second home run of the night and an 11-8 Aviators win. Keys with his two home run/six-RBI game now has the league lead in home runs with five and is second behind his Aviator teammate Ethan Guerra for the league lead in RBI with 19.
