The HCBL Weekly Awards for the second week of the 2024 season saw two student-athletes recognized for their incredible efforts on the field by the league’s head coaches.

Ty Acker (George Washington) of the North Fork Ospreys was picked as the Pepsi Player of the Week while Ray White (Manhattanville) of the Westhampton Aviators was named as the ACE Hardware Pitcher of the Week.

Acker hit .643 in Week 2 for the first-place North Fork Ospreys. Acker was 9-for-14 for the week with a home run, six RBI, and had six doubles. Acker had three doubles against the Bucks on June 22nd tying a franchise and HCBL single game record.

At the NACSB Prospect Games at Liberty University in Virginia on June 24th, Acker went 2-for-3 in the HCBL’s 7-3 win over the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL). Acker as of June 30th is leading the HCBL in batting average at .500 with 18 hits in 36 at-bats.

White is coming off winning his first game of the season for Westhampton on June 26th in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Shelter Island. White went six innings and despite giving up three runs in the first inning none of those runs were charged to him. The native of Mohegan Lake, NY only gave up three hits in the rest of his outing not allowing another run after that. White struck out four batters while not allowing a walk.
