Other 7/22 Games: Bucks Close Out 2025 Season with Win at Southampton

Shelter Island 10, Southampton 0 (6.5 Innings)

 

Moments after learning their 2025 season came to an end after Sag Harbor’s victory over Westhampton, the Shelter Island Bucks managed to close out their season strong with a 10-0 win over the Southampton Breakers.

 

1-4 in the Shelter Island order, Billy Fluharty (Bucknell), Alex Barrist (Lafayette), John Gannon (St. Lawrence), and Matt Holmes (Husson) all had two hits in the game. The top four in the order combined for eight of the Bucks’ twelve hits.

 

Gibby Sullivan (Bates) had three RBI for the Bucks, including a two-run single in the top of the fifth. The incoming Senior at Bates finished the 2025 season for the Bucks with 24 RBI for the season.

 

Diego Sarabia (Bates) pitched a six-inning complete game in his final start of the 2025 season. Sarabia allowed only six Southampton hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Sarabia finished the season at 3-1 with an ERA of 2.37.

 

The Bucks got the mercy rule win in the top of the seventh when Holmes hit a solo home run to end the game. Holmes had one home run in three of the last four Bucks games of the season.


 

South Shore 10, North Fork 3

 

The South Shore Clippers closed out the 2025 HCBL regular season with a 10-3 win over the North Fork Ospreys at Cochran Park.

 

South Shore scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and was in control of the game from start to finish.

 

Ryan Kiendle (St. John’s) highlighted the Clippers' seven-run first inning with a three-run home run. In his last three games of the season, Kindle was 5-for-9 with two home runs and 10 RBI.

 

Dean Ennis (Utica) had a strong start, giving up only one hit through four innings with four strikeouts and a walk as he earned the victory.

 

James Reilly (New Haven) pitched the last three innings for South Shore as he picked up a three-inning save in relief.

 

South Shore will travel to Southampton for Game 1 of the HCBL Semifinals on Thursday against Southampton, while North Fork will be home on Thursday for Game 1 of their Semifinal series with the Sag Harbor Whalers.
