The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League will usher in a new era in 2013, and the Westhampton Aviators, who have hoisted the Hamptons championship trophy twice in their four seasons, welcomes a new head coach this summer – Wake Forest assistant TJ Baxter – in hopes of doing so again.

The Point Pleasant, N.J., native is spending his second season as part of the Demon Deacons program. In 2011-12, he served as its director of baseball operations, before signing on as a volunteer assistant this year.

Baxter starred at the University of New Orleans from for four seasons before being selected in the 24th round by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Baxter spent three seasons in the Orioles farm system, reaching High-A Delmarva in 2010; he batted .261 with 11 homers and 76 RBI in 220 professional games.
