Your USF Ice Bulls are back for the ACHA 2015-16 season! Last weekend they kicked off the season with an away double header against the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles in Daytona Beach.

It took the USF Ice Bulls less than a minute to score and when it rained it poured as the USF Ice Bulls ran up the score early in the first. Aaron Humphrey claimed the first goal of the season with a shot off-balance that fired into the roof of the net. Rookie 'defender' Hunter Gonzalez scored his first goal as a USF Ice Bull followed by new kid-on-the-block Joey Galuppi who scored with a cheeky chip over the flailing ERAU net minder. Despite a lucky shot that managed to squeeze between the legs of USF net minder Alex Miller, USF closed out the period at 5-1 with a quick reply from veteran forward Stephen DeMarco. The second period was much of the same, with the goals flooding in for the USF Ice Bulls. It was showtime for rookie David Goff who netted his first of the night to commemorate his first appearance in a USF Ice Bulls jersey. Mike Budd, Michael Pelletier and Huw Baveystock all got in on the fun with goals to end the second with a commanding lead at 9-1. The third period should have come with a pillow as the USF Ice Bulls pulled back the reins on the scoreboard. ERAU doubled their scoring but that didn't stop David Goff adding two more to his tally to clinch a hat trick for his USF Ice Bulls debut. Michael Pelletier scored his second along with Joe Heckes getting in on the action to finish the game at 13-2 to USF.

The rematch the next day followed the same script. Mike Budd led the way with a goal early in the first. Stephen DeMarco and Joe Heckes lit it up before ERAU replied with one of their own to make it 3-1. David Goff then put away two along with Joe Heckes, Huw Baveystock and Hunter Gonzalez each doing their part to leave the score at an impressive 8-1 lead going into the second. After the interval, ERAU began to throw their dummies out the pram as the game got chippy. USF retaliated as the penalty boxes began to fill up with players like chickens in a coop. Then after a goalless 3rd period and in the midst of over 50 penalties called on both benches, USF held off the ERAU Eagles to a 12-3 win to complete the weekend sweep.

This weekend your USF Ice Bulls hope to continue their two-game winning streak by avenging the USF football team as they face off against the Florida State University Seminoles in a double-header home matchup. The home opener will be on Friday @ 9:30 pm followed by Saturday's game @ 3:30 pm, both to be held at the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex.
