The Bulls and Eagles split the weekend hockey series, leaving the Bulls with a record of 3-3.

South Daytona, FL — The Bulls started off their weekend series in South Daytona, FL on Friday at the home arena of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

ERAU faced an interference penalty early in the first period, allowing the Bulls to take on a powerplay. Using this powerplay to their advantage, the Bulls were first to put a score on the boards with a goal from #22 Kenneth Weightman with 16:47 left in the first period.

At 15:38 left in the first, ERAU had a man sent to the box for boarding and USF had a man sent to the box for roughing. Shortly after this, ERAU had another man sent to the penalty box for slashing, leaving the Bulls with a one man advantage for 4 on 3 hockey. The Bulls did not respond back with a goal, and in fact the Eagles took on revenge and scored a short-handed goal with 15:01 left in the first period. USF responded to this with 9:30 left in the first from a goal made by #19 Tyler Young with an assist by #24 Zach Parker.

At the end of the first period, the Bulls were leading the Eagles 2-1. In the second period, the Eagles tied up the game at 9:10 left in the second on a Bulls penalty for interference.

In the third, the Bulls were determined to take the lead as #25 Danila Mikheev scored early with 18:32 left in the game. USF held onto this lead, and even added two more goals to the scoreboard for the cherry on top. One goal came from #24 Zach Parker with 3:37 left and the other was a powerplay goal by, once again, #24 Zach Parker with only 1:55 left in the game. This gave the Bulls a 5-2 win over the Eagles in the first game of the weekend.

Tampa, FL — Game day was upon the Bulls on Saturday as they welcomed the Eagles into their home arena, the AdventHealth Ice Center. With fans in the stands, the puck dropped at 6:30pm as the Bulls looked to end the weekend 2-0.

The twenty minutes of the game was played back-and-forth puck action from both ERAU and USF, but no goals were scored by either team. It is important to note that during the period USF successfully killed off a twenty-three second 5-3 powerkill due to a hooking call at 6:01 left and a tripping call at 4:24 left in the first.

Both teams came back into the second hungry for action. ERAU was first to put a score on the boards as they scored with 15:42 left in the second. As time ticked on, little action was seen until ERAU striked again with another goal at 3:42 left in the second. The Eagles caught another goal just at the very end of the period, 0:43 left to be exact, leaving the Bulls down 0-3 as they headed into the third period.

The third period started with some back-and-forth penalty action. At 5:36 left in the game, USF put a score on the boards as a goal was scored from #9 Owen Welch with an assist from #7 Zachary Slezak. The game ended with another quick goal from ERAU at 0:56 left in the third as the Bulls fell to the Eagles 1-4.

The Bulls will not be hitting the ice this weekend, but do not worry because your USF Bulls will be back in action on Friday, October 15th in Clearwater, FL as they take on the University of Tampa Spartans at 9:45pm. USF will then return the favor and host the Spartans at AdventHealth Center Ice on Saturday, October 16th at 6:30pm. Stay tuned next week for a weekend preview of this matchup.
