The West Durham Ironheads had a busy weekend at the Pickering Recreation Centre this past weekend with a pair of games against two teams from the Ottawa area in the Gloucester Griffins and the Nepean Knights.

On Saturday night, the I-Heads knocked off the Griffins 10-9 in an overtime thriller to improve their record to 4-1 on the season. Taylor Dooley, Kris Veltman and Keegan White scored in OT to help secure the victory for the Ironheads. Rookie Dooley's OT marker was also his first goal of his young junior career.

Leading the way offensively once again was Rookie Jakson Raposo who netted two goals and an assist for three points. The Toronto,ON native's second goal of the game helped send the game into overtime. Other goal scorers included James Christoforatos, who also had two markers, Bryce Keats, Taggart Clark and Cyle Ropson. Goaltender Liam Wright made 38 saves en route to just his second win of his rookie season.

The very next day, the game also finished at 10-9, but unfortunately for the Ironheads they would be on the losing side this time. Penalties, misconducts and a hot Nepean netminder  in Denzel Moran-Weekes plagued West Durham, leading to their second loss of the season.

One major bright spot of the loss was the continued impressive play by rookie Raposo, who tallied one goal and five assists. Raposo now leads all Ironheads in scoring with 20 points in just five games.

The Ironheads get back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to historic Port Credit Arena to take on the Mississauga Tomahawks.
