Middle School Progress Reports:

Carle Place Cyclones: 0-1-2-1 3 pts: Carle Place only has four games played, but have played four good hockey games in their young season. They dispatched Roslyn White in overtime, and lost two tough matches to the top Farmingdale team (in OT) and Syosset. With talented players who can put the puck in the net, and with good goaltending last year’s Tier 3 champions have plenty good hockey left in them.

Deer Park Falcons 3-0-3-0 9 pts: The Falcons have fared well against most of the field thus far, but the top end teams have not been kind to Deer Park. But the Falcons have outscored their opponents 28-9 in their three wins this season. Shane Russo, Jordan Valcich and Lucas Dedora have all surpassed their point totals from last season.

Farmingdale Dalers Black: 2-1-2-1 9 pts: Farmingdale has had a tough schedule to start off their season, but they mostly are able to hold their own. If not for a late collapse to Roslyn they would have been the only team to beat the Bulldogs this year. As is the case with most Farmingdale teams their story isn’t about an explosive offense, but a solid team game.

Farmingdale Dalers Green: 4-1-1-0 14 pts: Last year’s tier 3 team has had an excellent start to the season losing only to Deer Park. They are 5th in the league in goals scored with Hunter Kinhackl and Anthony Catanzarita having seven goals each, and rank 1st in goals against thanks to the stellar play of goalie Michael Vevante.

Half Hollow Hills Thundercolts: 3-0-2-0 9 pts: Last year’s Tier 3 runner-up has been tested in their first five contests. They beat Carle Place in a re-match of last year’s Tier 3 final, and a good Roslyn White team before dropping tough games to Deer Park and POB / JFK. The Thundercolts have come a long way in a year, and it will be interesting to see if they can keep it going.

POB / JFK Hawks Blue: 4-0-2-0 12 pts: When the Hawks have a full team they are quite the danger to play against, but they have not been a full team too often thus far. Like Roslyn, Plainview also has six players with at least 10 points or more to start the season. With Farmingdale also in the mix it’s going to shape up to be a very exciting second part of the season.

POB / JFK Hawks White: 1-0-4-1 4 pts: The younger Hawks team has struggled getting their feet under them so far, but that is all part of the Islandwide learning process. After winning their first game of the season their last two games (both losses) have been by a goal each. Rookie goalie Ryan Silver is making a case for him to be one of the top goalies in the league by playing outstanding hockey every game.

Roslyn Bulldogs: 5-1-0-0 17 pts: The Bulldogs are currently the toast of the league thanks to downing favorite POB twice in the first six weeks of the season. Team play and balance is a huge reason for Roslyn’s success, as they have six players with at least 10 points or more to start the season. They are also 2nd in the league in goals against.

Roslyn Bulldogs Blue: 3-0-3-0 9 pts: There was some concern about the youngest Roslyn team before the puck even dropped for them this season, but they have held their own just fine and are on pace to finish 5-5 which isn't bad considering it's most of their first experiences in the league. Benji Weinberger and Max Gold have emerged to lead the team in scoring.

Roslyn Bulldogs White: 1-0-4-1 4 pts: Don’t be fooled by the record: the “middle” of the Bulldog teams has played very well thus far. Half of their games have been decided by two goals or less, and two more games were decided by three goals. When Roslyn plays as a team they can get the puck to players who can do some damage. Jacob Fischer and Ari Siegel have combined for 26 points so far this year.

Syosset Braves Red: 2-0-4-0 6 pts: Syosset came into this season with some decent size expectations after making it to last year’s Tier 2 final, and they are now starting to come around with two good performances to two middle of the league teams (Roslyn White and Carle Place). Syosset has the team chemistry to take them on a playoff run.

Syosset Braves White: 2-0-3-0 6 pts: The younger Syosset team continues to show promise after a tough first season. They only need one more win to surpass last year’s total of 3 (they beat the same team 3 times). The boys from Syosset seem to be learning the roller hockey game well, and should be an exciting team for years to come.
