Varsity Tier 2 Playoff Preview
2019-20 Tier 2 Varsity Playoff Preview:
Seed 3: Wantagh Warriors v. Seed 6: Syosset Braves: These two teams met twice during the season at different points in the schedule. Syosset won the opener 8-5 on the first night of the season, but Wantagh came back to win the second 11-8 last month. During that stretch Wantagh won 4 out of 5 games (the loss being in a shootout), but both teams are limping into the second season with losing streaks.
Winner plays: Farmingdale Dalers- Farmingdale did not lose to either team during the season, but only played Wantagh once and barely edged them 7-6 in overtime to end the regular season.
Seed 4: Roslyn Bulldogs v. Seed 5: Connetquot Thunderbirds: These two teams met twice during the regular season with Connetquot winning both times by a combined score of 16-8. The finesse style of Roslyn and gritty work-like play of Connetquot sets the two teams distinctly apart. It also makes things more interesting that the teams have combined for 44 penalty minutes in their two games.
Winner plays: Islip Buccaneers: In a weird quirk of the schedule Islip and Connetquot did not play during the regular season. Their two playing styles would make for an interesting match-up. Roslyn and Islip split their season series a game each after Roslyn won the first game of the regular season, but Islip crushed Roslyn in their rematch.
