Friday 12/16/22 and Sunday 12/18/22

Sunday Junior Varsity

Middle Country Cougars 8 - Syosset Braves 0: Emma Sherwood, Michael Zwirblis and Matt Aichroth came to play as the Cougars moved the puck all over the rink to improve to 5-0. Middle Country has six players with at least 10 points on the season.

Friday Varsity

Roslyn Bulldogs 6 - Middle Country Cougars 4: Tied 2-2 after the first half these spirited teams never disappoint when they get together. Goaltenders Anthony Gomez (Middle Country) and Justin Vishnick (Roslyn) stood tall for their teams, but Ayden Levy and Jack Meyer combined for four second half goals for Roslyn. Middle Country put up another good effort getting goals from four different scorers (Taliercio, Campo, Monti, and Colapinto) before falling short.

POB / JFK Hawks 8 - Islip Buccaneers 5: POB jumped out to a 3-1 lead thanks to three quick goals from Alec Hall, and the Hawks never looked back as Islip played catch-up all night. Daniel Thompson made several key saves for POB, and whenever Islip closed the gap the Hawks would add another goal. POB and Carle Place remain the leagues unbeaten teams.

East End Warriors 10 - Syosset Braves 2: Standard, Rhein and Rolan opened the scoring early for the Warriors as they were able to get their whole roster into the game. Six different players finished the game with at least one point. David Gallo’s eighth assist of the second put him in second in the league.

Sunday Varsity

Roslyn Bulldogs 9 - Farmingdale Dalers 4: After a quiet first half that saw Roslyn take a 3-1 lead things heated up in many ways in the second half as the Bulldogs took the game over. Max Levine had seven points, and Benji Rabinovich chipped in with a couple of goals and assists as well to help seal the win.

East End Warriors 10 - Middle Country Cougars 7: Middle Country led early and often in this one, but the Warriors were able to chip away as the game continued. Michael Taliercio gave the Cougars multiple leads, but each time the Warriors had an answer between Rhein, Strong and Standard. Middle Country goaltender Anthony Gomez stood tall for the Cougars in the loss.

Carle Place Cyclones 4 - Islip Buccaneers 3 (OT): The last game of 2022 was an iron man as the teams had a total of nine players. Islip took a 3-2 with ten minutes left and looked poised to win before Erik Lanzer tied the game late with his second of the game. After a back-and-forth overtime that featured plenty of saves from Carle Place’s Andrew Seegel (he finished with 40 in the game), Carle Place’s John Hoisik was able to win it. Islip had a goal each from Brynes, Brode and Clark.
