This past weekend your Division 1 Hawks traveled to Michigan, to take on University of Oakland in a non conference matchup. In game one the hawks battled back from a 3-1 deficit late in the third period to force overtime. With 2 goals on the night from Joakim Karrlson and a goal from Reid Duguid with 19 seconds left in the third period it gave the hawks a chance to win the game in overtime. After a scoreless 5 minute overtime, it took a shootout to decide a winner. Goalie Robbie Stock came up with 3 huge saves, leading to the hawks needing to only net one goal to be victorious. After Oaklands goalie stopped the first two attempts,  Reid Duguid later came up clutch once again with a slick move to give the hawks the shootout Victory.

Game two was a very physical hard fought game just like game one, where the hawks unfortunately did not come up on the right side of things. Despite a 2 goal lead early in the game with 2 power play goals scored by Tyler Speis and Shane Yaller the hawks allowed a late shorthanded goal to cut the lead to 1 going into the second period. After a controversial goal late in the second which may have looked to be hand passed into the net by a Oakland player had now tied the game heading into the third period. Oakland then scored a goal on the power play only a minute and a half into the third to take the 3-2 lead.  After a plethora of chances in the third the hawks just couldn't net the game tying goal. Oakland added a empty net goal at the end to make it a 4-2 final. It was a hard fought weekend by the hawks earning a split.
They now turn their efforts toward next week where they will face off in a home and home against Kent State!
