NBC World Series: Austin Texas uses big third inning to upend Monarchs

Hutchinson, Kan. -- The Austin Texas Lonestar Baseball Club broke through in the third frame and went on to a 6-3 win over the Hutchinson Monarchs in action at the NBC World Series last night (July 30) at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, Kan. 

The Monarchs got on the board first with two runs in the top of the third, but Austin Texas answered in the bottom half as a two-run single by Andre Jackson capped a five-run inning. 

Austin then added another tally in the bottom of the eighth before the Monarchs scored again in the top of the ninth to finish up the scoring output. 

Nathan Medrano got the win for Austin Texas by going five innings and allowing no earned runs with seven strikeouts. 

Jackson had two hits and Ronnie Bailey drove in a pair of runs to pace the Austin Texas offensive attack. 

The Monarchs got two hits apiece from Lane Brewster, Sawyer Thornhill and Cade Clemons. 

Will Maynard was effective for the Monarchs out of the bullpen, pitching 4.1 shutout innings with just one hit allowed and four strikeouts. 

Hutchinson will next play OKC D-BAT tomorrow afternoon (Aug. 1) starting at 3 pm at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
