WICHITA, Kan. -- The Cheney Diamond Dawgs fell 8-3 to the Mansfield Texas TBT Ballers yesterday (Aug. 2) at the NBC World Series at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.

The Ballers jumped on top when a two-run double by Lane Snow ignited a three-run second inning.

Cheney had an answer though, as Jaxson Holder doubled home Lenny Ashby in the bottom of the fourth to put the Diamond Dawgs on the board and then single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings tied the score at 3-3.

But the Ballers had the final response and took the lead for good with a run in the seventh and another tally in the eighth inning before a two-run single from Easten Smith capped a three-run ninth inning that put it away.

The Ballers outhit the Diamond Dawgs 11-5, led by two hits apiece from Gabe Irwin and Preston Knott.

Holder went 2-of-3 and Austin Eggleston tossed three scoreless innings and struck out three for the Diamond Dawgs.

The Diamond Dogs wrap up play at the NBC World Series with a 1-2 mark following an outstanding 38-6 record in the Sunflower Collegiate League season.
