WICHITA, Kan. -- The undefeated Liberal (Kan.) BeeJays found enough offense late to win 6-1 over the Haysville Aviators in NBC World Series single-round action yesterday (Aug. 4) at Eck Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.

With the game scoreless through five innings, it was the Aviators that found the scoreboard first when Drake Girard singled home Jayden Hill.

But the BeeJays then got going, taking the lead on RBI singles from Daylan Pena and Zach Yorke before an RBI double from Tyce Armstrong capped a three-run seventh frame.

The BeeJays added another run in the eighth and then got a two-run homer from Cooper Hext in the ninth inning.

Despite outhitting the BeeJays 13-12, the Aviators were able to scratch across just one run. Girard, Paul Wittman, Trent Mallonee and Austin Warkins each had two hits for Haysville.

Gavin Brzozowski paced the BeeJays with three hits.

Brady Pacha started for the Aviators and turned in a solid outing, pitching five shutout innings and striking out four as Haysvile's fine season ends in the quarterfinal round of the NBC World Series.
