Grizzlies uses shootout to best Townies, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Grizzlies defeated Townies in a shootout 4-3.

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

Grizzlies overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Grizzlies trailed 3-1 after a goal by Townies' Rob Noll at 2:56 in the second period. Grizzlies tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Scott Evans at 14:35 in the third period.

Grizzlies kept Townies' goalie busy throughout the game, and Gary Stiwell made 43 saves on 47 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Grizzlies was led by Matt Criscuolo, who had one goal and one assist. Criscuolo scored 10:48 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Townies. Steve Moran assisted on the tally. Grizzlies also got a goal from Dan Wojcik as well. In addition, Grizzlies received assists from Cameron Kelly, who had one.

Townies stifled Grizzlies' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Townies forced Grizzlies goalie Tyler Theibault to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Townies was led by Eric Lasota, who finished with two goals. Lasota scored the first of his two goals at 2:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Townies. Ross Mackay picked up the assist. Lasota's next tally made the score 2-0 Townies with 16:40 left in the first period. Tony Stoble provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Townies were John Butler, who had one.

Tyler Theibault made 41 saves for Grizzlies on 44 shots. Grizzlies incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Townies incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
