EAGLES LOSE IN OT
Joey Campbell (Brent Lace, Colten Hunter) opened the scoring 11:22 into the first period. Within the minute, Nicholas Ainsworth (Simon Feig) answered back to tie the game.
Sabastian Geraci (Joseph Cole) scored the sole goal of the second to put Eagles ahead.
On the power play, Simon Feig (Cameron Harris, George Miranda) scored seconds into the third period to tie up the game. Brent Lace (Adam Meijer, Colten Hunter) scored at 7:17 to put Eagles up by one but the Panthers scored with 4:26 left to play in regulation time to tie the game and force OT.
Eagles start the fourth period short-handed and survive. Sabastian Geraci earns a penalty shot but is unable to penetrate Curtis Laviolette’s defense. Panthers pulled the goalie and scored to win the game. Final: Clarington Eagles 3 Port Hope Panthers 4.
Curtis Laviolette was in net for the win stopping 23 shots. Alex Lepizzera saved 14 shots. Power plays were Clarington 0-0; Port Hope 1-2.
OTL earns one point, sufficient to keep Eagles in first place over North Kawartha Knights.
Eagles are back on the ice Thursday at home hosting Port Perry Mojacks.
