Kings Sign New Assistant Coach
The Penetang Kings are proud to welcome Tyler McKelvey as the teams new Assistant Coach. Tyler's playing career began in Midland where his teams made appearances in 3 OMHA finals, winning two championships. He then joined the Penetang Kings for two seasons from 2002-2004, before moving on to Wilfrid Laurier University where he continued playing Junior Hockey with the Wellesley AppleJacks from 2004-2006. After his playing career Tyler came back to Penetang to coach the Atom Rep team in 2009/10 and the Peewee rep team in 2012/13. He then supported the Bantam AE team in Elmvale for the 2014/15 season before becoming an assistant coach with BMHA Midget AA program for the past two seasons. Throughout his playing and coaching career Tyler has worked as a hockey instructor with Shoot The Puck Hockey in Barrie, National Training Rinks, and other organizations where he taught fundamental hockey skills to varying ages of players. Tyler also brings his passion and skill for coaching and sports to the school teams where he teaches with the SMCDSB.
