Grimsby blows out Port Dover, 4-1

The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Port Dover Sailors, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 4-1 win.

Port Dover was stymied by Grimsby's netminder Jeremy Currie, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Currie certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.67 entering the contest.

The Peach Kings got the win with help from a great game by Daniel Scotland, who had one goal and two assists. Scotland scored 13:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Marcus Brydon assisted on the tally.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Sailors were unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Grimsby also got points from Brydon, who also had one goal and one assist. Grimsby also had goals scored by Matthew Jambrosich and Curtis Conrad, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Aiden McCreadie, Jeromy Hopkins, Nicholas Purves, James Thorpe, and Brennan Smith, who each chipped in one.

Port Dover was held below its usual level of production. The Sailors put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Port Dover was led by Brad Johnson, who scored the team's only goal. Johnson scored 7:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Michael Almas picked up the assist.

The Peach Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Sailors' Riley Edwards stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Port Dover incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
