Dundas outlasts Grimsby, 4-2

February 18, 2016
4:30 PM EST

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Dundas Blues escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Grimsby Peach Kings.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Justin Homer at 6:58 of the second period.

The win gave Dundas a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Homer had two goals to lead the Blues to victory.

Grimsby's power play was ineffective against Dundas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Blues stifled the Peach Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas forced Grimsby goalie Jeremy Currie to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Others who scored for Dundas included Connor King and Domenic Procopio, who each put in one. More assists for Dundas came via Ray Thompson, Phoenix Schueler, Liam Buckley, and Quinn Sallows, who contributed one each and Mitch Moriarity and Cam McConnell, who each chipped in two.

The Peach Kings kept the Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Albano made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Grimsby was helped by James Thorpe, who registered one goal. Thorpe scored 16:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Matthew Jambrosich provided the assist. Carson Macrae also scored for Grimsby. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Joshua Kozielski, who had two.

Dundas incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Currie rejected 29 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
