Walker and Kidney Sign NAHL Tenders
It is with great pleasure that the New Jersey Junior Titans announce that U16 Forwards Ryan Walker and Matt Kidney have signed tenders with the Amarillo Bulls and the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League. Walker and Kidney have accounted for 169 points throughout the 2013-2014 season and are not done yet. With both the NAPHL playoffs and Atlantic District playoffs on the horizon these two young stars are heating up at the right time, and it is only fitting that they enter 2014 with the next level knocking on their doors.
Walker enters 2014 atop two leagues in scoring. At home in the AYHL he has accumulated 10g 30a for 40 points in 19 games played, and in the NAPHL he has already set a league record for points in a season as he has 23g 38a for 61 points in just 15 games played. Kidney is not far behind with 19g 11a for 30 points in 18 games played home in the AYHL and 19g 19a for 38 points in 14 games played in the NAPHL.
Both Kidney and Walker were enjoying their New Year’s Day NHL Winter Classic celebrations when they received their phone calls. First, Coach Michael Gershon of the Port Huron Fighting Falcons calling for Matt Kidney, and just an hour or so later Coach Dennis Williams of the Amarillo Bulls calling for Ryan Walker. Head Coach George Haviland says of the two players; “I cannot say enough about Matt and Ryan. With both players being lifelong Titans our organization could not be prouder of the two. These tenders are just a testament to their hard work over the course of this season and their young careers.”
On tendering with Amarillo, Walker expressed, “It is very exciting for me and my family after playing three years in the NAPHL to tender with an organization like Amarillo.” Matt Kidney expressed similar excitement, “My parents and I are very excited for this opportunity. With Port Huron being atop their Division in the standings and sending more than 10 players to the NCAA last year I could not be happier.” It seems as though the sky is the limit for these young stars.
The New Jersey Junior Titans want to remind all of its readers that the EHL Junior team returns home to the Middletown Ice World on Sunday January 12, 2014 for Rivalry Night as the Titans face off against instate foe the New Jersey Rockets. The Rockets won the previous meeting 5-3, a game which featured both Ryan Walker and Matt Kidney; they accounted for all three Titan goals. In any case, please come out and support the Titans and let’s pack the house for a Sunday night showdown. Game time is 7:00 PM. Be There!
