Beach Split with Spartans

October 15, 2016
6:59 PM PDT

Thursday night the Beach hosted the Spartans for the first of a back-to-back series. For all of the night though, it would be the Spartans who controlled the game. Under two minutes into the game the Spartans would find the back of the net and they never looked back. Beach forward, Joseph Toews found the back of the net late in the first, but it wouldn't be enough as San Jose State continued to pile it on and walked away with the 6-1 win.

The Beach came out much stronger the next night and were led by Kody Ichinaga and Francis Lemay to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Cale Bechtel and Joe Kubani added to the lead and the Beach was up 4-0 at the half waypoint of the game. Two quick Spartan goals brought the game much closer by the end of the second period. Heading into the third, goaltender Tyler Gealy would shut the door and Ichinaga would add his second of the night to clinch the 5-2 win for the Beach.

Long Beach State is 2-4-0 on the season and head to Loyola Marymount October 21st for their first WCHC action. On Saturday, San Diego State travels to Long Beach for an 8:55pm start at Lakewood Ice!

Go Beach!
