Tough weekend in Long Beach
vs Grand Canyon University
Friday night, Long Beach faced off against Grand Canyon University in the first of two games on the weekend.
Grand Canyon opened up the scoring early and was uncontested as they established their 4-0 lead early in the first period. Long Beach captain, Tanner Bleyle would bring the Beach within two goals with a pair of quick goals in the final part of the first period.
The teams traded goals in the second period before Long Beach opted to switch goalies and put Adam Moroz in net. Down 6-3, Moroz made several key saves before the end of the second to keep the Beach within three.
An unassisted goal by Grand Canyon University, seven minutes into the third, would ensure the visitors 7-3 victory.

The teams play was a bit tighter on Saturday but Grand Canyon was still able to find the back of the net twice in the first period to put them up 2-0. An early goal by Long Beach freshman, Logan Peterson, brought the game within one in the second period. However, a short-handed goal and a pair of power play goals put the game out of reach for Long Beach. Grand Canyon University would skate to a 6-2 win and handed Long Beach their second loss in as many games this weekend.
Long Beach looks to bounce back against the visiting Arizona State Sun Devils next weekend.
