The Hamline Purple Post 418 first-inning burst enough to top the Maple Grove Post 172, 7-1

Delano, MN - The Hamline Purple Post 418 handled the Maple Grove Post 172 by a score of 7-1 on Sunday at Delano Municipal Baseball Park after pouring on four runs in the first inning.

The Hamline Purple Post 418 scored in the first on an RBI single by Frank Kimlinger, a hit by pitch, and a two-run single by Anthony Fumuso.

Fumuso racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Hamline Purple Post 418.

Dominic Lonetti picked up the win for the Hamline Purple Post 418. Lonetti allowed one earned run, seven hits and two walks while striking out four over eight innings of work.

Charlie Hutchinson (0-1) took the loss for the Maple Grove Post 172. He allowed seven runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out three.

The loss ended Maple Grove's bid for a state title and extended Hamline Purple to another elmination game with defending state champion Wayzata.  Game time is slated with the first pitch at 4pm from Delano Municipal Park.
