Rangers Assuming Their Customary Spot: Right In The Thick Of It

The Reeders Rangers are in an unfamiliar position: the perennial title contenders are in fifth place, with a middling record, and barely in the current playoff picture.

But things are getting more familiar all the time.

The Rangers (4-3) defeated the previously front-running Bethlehem A's (6-2) by a score of 9-5 on Sunday in Lehigh Valley Baseball League Premier Division action. It was the fourth straight victory for Reeders after a winless start to the season.

And then the 2018 runners up welcomed back a trio of familiar faces. Former 3B-Manager Jason Gonzalez is among three Rangers veterans who re-joined the team this week for what the Rangers hope will be another title push.

Alexander Lawson worked around eight walks to allow only two runs in a six-inning start. Justin Magistro doubled and tripled, Daniel Gonzalez doubled among two hits, and Lawson had two hits himself.

Jim McCarthy and Jeremy Ortiz notched multiple hits for the A's.

Next up for the Rangers is a re-match of last season's Premier Division title series. Reeders takes on the Alpha Braves, who dashed the Rangers 2018 hopes when Braves ace Colton Langworthy pitched 13 innings in one afternoon to earn the series tying and clinching wins.

The A's have a twin bill with the Boyertown Oilers.
