The St. Louis Gamers escape the St. Charles Captains behind Konecek's 7 strikeouts, 6-0

An ace performance by Josh Konecek carried the St. Louis Gamers (14-7) to a 6-0 win in seven innings over the St. Charles Captains (9-11) on Saturday at Parkway Central Field.

Konecek pitched lights out for the Gamers. Konecek held the Captains hitless over six innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out seven.

 

Two pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for the Gamers.

The offense exploded for the the Gamers in the fifth. In the inning, the Gamers scored four runs. They scored on an RBI double by Danny Wright, a sacrifice fly by Branden Beeler, and a two-run single by Harrison Burns.

Devin Mayfield couldn't get it done on the hill for the Captains, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked three and struck out six.
