Luke Marcheschi hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as Marcheschi tossed a shutout to carry the Alton Pioneers (6-14) to a 4-0 victory over the O'Fallon Travelers at Hopkins Field.

Marcheschi held the Travelers (8-15) scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on five hits while ringing up nine.

It was a good day at the plate for the Pioneers' Tim Lira. Lira went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings and doubled in the ninth inning.

Despite the loss, the OFallon Travelers' Anthony Delia pitched one of his best games of the season, giving up two runs and striking out five.
